Race Sim Zone
An App for a Sim-Racing Lounge
The Starting Point:
Less Hassle for Customers and Staff
Race Sim Zone offers in-person sim racing on high-end simulators. Bookings and event registrations, however, were handled by hand: cumbersome for customers, lots of admin for staff. They needed a channel through which customers can get information, book sessions and join events without calling.
The task: an app for iOS and Android that becomes the racers’ first stop.
My Approach:
Keep the Three Main Paths Short
The app had to be simple enough that customers actually want to use it. So I focused on three flows: get information, book a slot, sign up for a race.
One Codebase for Both Platforms
With Ionic/Capacitor, I built the app for iOS and Android from a single codebase. That saves development time, and the app behaves the same on every device.
Simple Flows, Solid Backend
The interface is deliberately plain. Behind it sit a Strapi CMS and an SQLite database. The main features:
-
Slot Booking A clear calendar view where customers reserve simulators.
-
Event Registration One tap and you are signed up for the next race. No call, no email.
-
Push Notifications from the Backend Staff trigger updates, reminders and offers directly from the Strapi backend. The lounge reaches its customers in real time.
The Result:
Book Instead of Call
Customers now have bookings and information on their phone. Staff have less admin and a direct line to the racers.
What this project shows about how I work:
- I understand what a service business with walk-in customers needs.
- I build cross-platform apps with Ionic/Capacitor.
- I connect mobile apps to a headless CMS such as Strapi, including push notifications.
